A word from the Vine Trust...
Katie is fundraising in aid of their Vine Trust School Expedition to Tanzania. Vine Trust School Expeditions are an opportunity for students to make a real and lasting difference to Tanzanian communities living in poverty. Working closely with our in-country partners, volunteers construct individual family homes for some of the world's most vulnerable people - providing shelter, security and hope, and empowering communities to achieve a brighter future.
Donations made through this page will contribute towards the cost of Katie's expedition, including international flights, accommodation, food, in-country transport, and the purchase of construction materials and resources. Any additional funds raised will go towards future Vine Trust construction projects and the development of Vine Trust's programmes.
Many thanks for supporting Vine Trust – together we are helping to support vulnerable communities through effective and sustainable development.

Fundraising Activity
I have been fortunate enough to have been chosen as part of a group from Peebles High School, to travel to Tanzania on a two week expedition, in conjunction with the Vine Trust. While in Tanzania I will be involved in the building of a new family home and any fundraising will help with the purchase of building materials and supplies. We will also be involved in various other community projects in and around the town of Moshi. I am really looking forward to being able to play my part in making a positive change to the lives of others in Tanzania who are less fortunate than ourselves. I have never been involved in anything such as this before and whilst it is a little bit daunting, it is an opportunity of a lifetime for me.
How I'm raising money
As our trip is to a town called Moshi, which is known as the gateway and base for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, I want to do something which is both challenging and connected to the area to which we're visiting. Over the coming weeks and months, I will complete a number of hikes and hill walks within my local area, which will include Lee Pen, Minch Moor, Priesthope, as well as a hike up the Grey Mares Tail to Loch Skeen. I first hiked up to Loch Skeen when I was 5 (see picture!). I will be logging all elevation until I complete the total elevation of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is 19,341 feet! I hope to complete my challenge by August 2026. If you are able to donate anything at all, I would really appreciate it. Anything you are able to donate will go directly towards improving the quality of life for the families we will be working with while we are in Tanzania. Thank you.
