A word from the Vine Trust...
Meaghan is fundraising in aid of Vine Trust's Amazon Hope Medical Programme in Peru.
Amazon Hope Medical Expeditions enable volunteers to make a real and lasting difference to communities living on the Peruvian Amazon. Working in partnership with our in-country clinical teams, volunteers provide primary healthcare services to remote and isolated riverine communities, aboard our fully-equipped medical vessels, Amazon Hope 2 and Forth Hope. Vine Trust Medical Expeditions provide free, life-changing clinical testing, treatment and education to communities who would otherwise have little or no access to basic healthcare.
Donations made through this page will contribute towards the maintenance and development of the Amazon Hope Medical Programme.

Fundraising Activity
As most of you know, I am studying nursing and I am fortunate enough to be able to undertake one of my placements in Peru. I am going to be going with the Vine Trust on the Amazon hope. This is an extremely worth while cause and I am extremely excited to have this opportunity. The Amazon Hope is an ex Navy Fleet tender that carries a dedicated and skilled team to rural villages to provide medical and dental care to rural amazon communities with little or no healthcare provisions. Many of these villages have a high rate of infant death and curable conditions, which could easily be helped by antibiotics, anti-malarials and analgesia- things that we often take for granted. I will have the opportunity to gain experience in basic obstetrics (pregnancy/childbirth/post birth), paediatric care (children), minor injuries, minor surgeries and dental care whilst aboard the ship. I also get the opportunity to provide educational sessions, empowering them to take control of their health and treatments. As part of my trip, I am trying to fundraise around £600 to contribute towards medical costs, transport, food and water to enable the continuation of the Amazon Hope's amazing work.How I'm raising money
