Here’s to making a difference !

A word from the Vine Trust...

Dr Renate S is fundraising in aid of their Vine Trust Medical Expedition to Lake Victoria, Tanzania. Jubilee Hope Medical Expeditions are an opportunity for volunteers to make a real and lasting difference to communities living on the islands and shore of Lake Victoria. Working in partnership with our in-country clinical team, volunteers provide primary healthcare services to communities living in severe poverty, aboard our fully-equipped medical vessel, Jubilee Hope. Vine Trust Medical Expeditions provide free, life-changing clinical testing, treatment and education to communities who would otherwise have little or no access to basic healthcare.

Donations made through this page will contribute towards the cost of Dr Renate S's expedition, including international flights, accommodation, food, in-country transport, and a donation towards the medical programme. Any additional funds raised will go towards the maintenance and development of the Jubilee Hope Medical Programme.

Many thanks for supporting Vine Trust – together we are helping to support vulnerable communities through effective and sustainable development.

Fundraising Activity

In 2023 Dr Caroline Yandell and I went on our first Medical Expedition with Vine Trust to Tanzania. We saw first hand the excellent work that is being done amidst the poorest communities on a group of isolated islands in Lake Victoria, not only by delivering essential and otherwise non-existent healthcare, but also by empowering those communities through delivering health promotion and education. We felt truly privileged to be able to contribute and in June 2026 we are planning to go on our second expedition.

How I'm raising money

Your contribution will go towards the expedition cost of £1600 per volunteer, which will help fund the costs of the upkeep of the medical ship, the wages of the crew ( also doubling up as Swahili translators!) and Tanzanian medical staff and dentist, the cost of the medication and simple laboratory testing facilities provided for free to the communities. Further costs incurred will be for our flights and other expenses, but the expedition costs of course take priority.
