A word from the Vine Trust...
Arjun is fundraising in aid of their Vine Trust Medical Expedition to the Peruvian Amazon. Amazon Hope Medical Expeditions are an opportunity for volunteers to make a real and lasting difference to communities living on the Peruvian Amazon. Working in partnership with our in-country clinical teams, volunteers provide primary healthcare services to remote and isolated riverine communities, aboard our fully-equipped medical vessels, Amazon Hope 2 and Forth Hope. Vine Trust Medical Expeditions provide free, life-changing clinical testing, treatment and education to communities who would otherwise have little or no access to basic healthcare.
Donations made through this page will contribute towards the cost of Arjun's expedition, including international flights, accommodation, food, in-country transport, and a donation towards the medical programme. Any additional funds raised will go towards the maintenance and development of the Amazon Hope Medical Programme.

Fundraising Activity
Dear Friends and Colleagues As you all are aware I'm heading to Australia on a sabbatical but before that I'm volunteering as a medic on the Amazon Hope Programme organised by Vine Trust. Established in 1985, Vine Trust is a global development charity that works with national and international partners to strengthen health systems and support construction projects in Peru and Tanzania. In 2001, an ex-Royal Navy Fleet tender was sent by Vine Trust to assist in the development of relief work amongst marginalised communities in the Peruvian Amazon. From these humble beginnings, the Amazon Hope Programme has grown to become the largest non-governmental healthcare provider in the Loreto region of Peru, helping to provide 200,000 primary healthcare consultations per year to 6 river basins.How I'm raising money
Learn about the challenges in delivering healthcare to remote and isolated communities. Have opportunities to provide healthcare to patients under the guidance of the local team. Learn more about the levels of morbidity and burden of disease in the communities, as well as local recommended treatments. Share from my own expertise and training with the local team. Develop an understanding of the social, cultural, economic and environmental context and how this impacts health in the communities.Share this page
